Institute of Advanced Investment Management
IAIM Investing Competition
Learn and Grow with Fellow Students
Students want opportunities to apply their education outside the classroom. IAIM has developed this competition to fill this desire. This opportunity offers students the chance to connect with other students with similar interests, and develop a unique investment strategy that they are able to test against the market using real-time data.
Some Basic Info
- Students will use Wall Street Survivor to simulate a portfolio. Wall Street Survivor executes trades using real-time data at the time of trade finalization.
- Students will begin the competition with $1,000,000 to manage.
- The competition is open for registration immediately, and registration will close the first week of September.
Getting Started

Fill out the Google Form below and you’ll receive a packet containing everything you’ll need to know.

The Details
Collaboration – Students are expected to participate in the competition on an individual basis. However, IAIM sees the importance of talking with others and sharing ideas. Participants are encouraged to collaborate with others to maximize the knowledge and insight they gain from their participation.
Time Commitment – Participants will be expected to manage their portfolio in whatever way they see fit. Some strategies will require more consistent monitoring.
Duration – The competition will go live on August 19th, and trades will be processed until April 11th.
Prizes and Awards – Various awards and small prizes will be handed out multiple times throughout the competition, with a final set of awards being given out at the end of April (date to be decided at a future date).

- While attending these meetings are not required to participate in the competition, they are highly encouraged! Each month, one meeting will be dedicated to discussing the competition and your strategy with other participants, and all other meetings will detail aspects of the investing industry that will be highly useful in your efforts to develop your portfolio.
