CFA & CAIA Events
IAIM will become a host and sponsor of the local chapters of the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst associations. This will further bridge industry with research and teaching. It will also ensure that leading industry professionals, including alums, in Utah are engaging with the University of Utah.
Mountain West Investor Conference 2024
The CFA Society Salt Lake and CAIA Rocky Mountain are partnering to present the Mountain West Investor Conference, one of the premier asset management conferences in Western United States. The one-day conference will be hosted at the stunning St. Regis in Deer Valley and will be held on December 13th from 8:00AM MST to 5:00PM MST.
The conference will feature presentations and keynote speakers from world class investment firms, including some from the Salt Lake area.
The focus this year will be on alternative investments with panels on private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and due diligence. There will also be a special panel of Chief Investment Officers and a fireside chat with Chris Ailman, former CIO of CalSTRS.

CFA Institute Research Challenge
The CFA Institute Research Challenge provides students with the chance to learn about financial analysis and professional ethics while being mentored and trained personally by members of the CFA Society. The challenge has multiple levels, starting with a local level competition where winners will progress to sub-regional, regional, and global competitions.
The challenge runs for an entire school year, with teams forming in August, and the local level competitions being held in March. It requires a strong level of commitment and dedication, and is an incredible opportunity for students to showcase what they've learned in the classroom.
